My Approach to Helping

The relationship between the counselor and client is one of the most important factors toward change. Having a trusting therapeutic alliance is essential on the client’s journey toward success. Dr. Denton’s approach is empowering, collaborative and transformative. She particularly enjoys counseling and educating people who are in transition and facing pivotal moments in their life, career, and family. She uses elements from a variety of therapeutic principles and philosophies personally tailored toward each individual to enhance family connections, decrease conflicts and promote healthy relationships.

Dr. Tamara Denton is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Master Addiction Counselor, Certified Anger Management Specialist as well as a Qualified Substance Abuse Professional. She earned her Master's Degree in Family Sciences from Eastern Illinois University. Dr. Denton achieved her Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Counselor Education and Supervision from Argosy University. Dr. Denton serves as Adjunct Faculty at Aurora University and Grand Canyon University. Showing compassion for her students and clients is one of her attributes. She believes every client deserves to be given quality and adequate services. Dr. Denton has extensive experience working with family systems that have been fragmented by addiction and mental illness. As a skilled Counselor, and Educator Dr. Denton provides individual, family, couples and marital counseling sessions in an empowering environment where clients can feel safe and secure as they work toward achieving their goals.

Jake believes sometimes in life we are faced with challenges that can be too overwhelming to handle alone. He works diligently to provide a, non-judgmental environment while working collaboratively to find solutions to various issues clients may experience. Jake has over 17 years of counseling experience. Jake graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Aurora University and is also a certified alcohol and drug counselor.

Jake has actively worked in the field of mental health and addiction. Jake is skilled in treating adults, adolescents, and individuals. Jake uses an eclectic variation of theoretical orientations and is eager to accompany you on your journey!
